The Synchronicity Pages Continues
I belong to an egroup - Abraham-Hicks - which is a discussion group for a group of beings known as Abraham and their Channel Esther Hicks. (If you would like more info on Abraham, please visit the following site: http://www.abraham-hicks.com/ ) As Abraham is so similar to the Grandfathers in their beliefs and teachings, I have found the Abraham teachings to be very helpful in understanding more of what the Grandfathers have been trying to teach me all these years. One of the topics has been LOA or Law of Attraction. Basically LOA states that the energy you put forth is what is going to return to you, rather like karma but with a twist. Both Abe and The GF's have stated repeatedly that what we focus on is what we get. Full stop. Focus with joy and delighted anticipation that something good is headed your way and wham, here it comes! Expect the worst and yep, here it comes too! So I suppose I should not have been at all surprised when the topic of Synchronicity suddenly came up on the Abraham discussion group.
What caught my eye was the subject line "Synchronicity = LOA?" Why yes Watson, it most certainly does and why oh why had I not thought of that before?!
Here's how it works: You are focused on something. Maybe its a new car or an increase in pay. Let's assume that you are feeling good about your desire. You expect that it is possible, that you can easily have it and you are excited about having it. Basically what you have done is kicked the Law of Attraction into action: You have said to the Universe "I desire this and I expect that it shall come easily". The Universe responds with "okay, happy to give it to you, just keep your focus on it all happening easily and joyfully and soon it shall be yours!" Thats when synchronicity begins to happen. You hear of a friend or even a stranger that was suddenly called into the Boss's office to be informed they are being given a substantial rise in pay. This gets you even more happy and excited about your desire so in turn causes the Universe to send you even more examples of synchronicity. Or of course, if its the car you are seeking, suddenly you are hearing numerous examples of people that found fabulous cars at prices that were easily affordable. You become even more excited and enthused and then, you find the perfect car for you at a wonderfully low price and you are driving it off the lot.
Now let's assume that your thoughts were not so positive. Maybe you expected to be taken advantage of at the car lot or that your boss would never dream of increasing your pay. Again, you have said to the Universe "I want this and yet I expect it shall be terribly difficult and probably won't happen". The Universe, by LOA, responds with "Okay, you want this and yet its supposed to be difficult, if not impossible, gotcha!" Again, synchronicity kicks in reflecting back to you precisely what you believe to be true!
Sychronicity when examined from this perspective then becomes something far more than a "interesting though weird coincidence". I don't believe in "coincidence". I do believe that synchronicity is meant to be used as a tool to show us what our beliefs are, where our energy is flowing, how we are feeling emotionally. It is intended to help us understand what we are attracting to ourselves through LOA and if we don't like what we see headed our way, we need to start working on the beliefs and feelings that has started the process of that attraction to us. The Universe never stops reflecting our beliefs and feelings back to us. We then have a choice to continue feeling and believing as we do or make changes if what we feeling and experiencing and thinking does not bring us joy. I remember one time someone saying to me "It seems so terrible and hard to believe that a loving Universe would have things set up this way! Why would it, when so many people don't know about these so called laws?" My response then and now has always been "but we do!" Every culture has stories and myths of "the good red road" as it is described among Native American people's. Down through the ages we have all been urged to be kind to others, to be fair and ethical, to seek to do good throughout our lives. And one very simple reason for this is that by living a life that seeks to give joy to others, we attract joy unto ourselves because it feels so good to be kind and generous! For what ever reason there may be that most of us chose to come into this lifetime not remembering who and what we really are, I think we do need to be aware that a loving Universe insured that there would be safety nets in place. Basically, we have been taught to be kind to others as a way of sneaking in the back door to our own good, VBG! LOA is in our faces each day, be rude and nasty to others and guess how your day is going to go? Be kind and caring and people will flock to be kind and caring towards you! Granted, some folks can short circuit all the good that is meant for them by not expecting it, desiring it, or feeling unworthy of it, and if this is the case for you, trust me, synchronicity will start validating this for you not long after you read these words! So if you have ever wondered why it is that some really nice people always seem to get the short end of the stick, now you know. It doesn't have to be that way.
Take a few moments and reflect on the synchronicity that has been happening in your own life recently. What is it showing you? Has it been fun? Or a right downer? If the latter, you can choose right now to begin thinking and feeling in new, more positive ways. One can always find something to be grateful for, something to enjoy, a way to be kind to someone else. And the synchronicity that appears in your life will reflect much more positive things and experiences!
Synchronicity as a channel for understanding life situations
It really is true that the more one notices the flow of synchronicity, the greater the flow of sycnhronicity! Recently, events involving my family sparked off a chain reaction that is steadily leading towards major life changes for all involved. Without going into details, as I was struggling to cope with what is happening and wondering how best to approach it, I received word from a family member about her own current life situation that left me feeling gutted. Yet as I was reading her email, one word jumped out at me: Odyssey. She used that word to describe what is happening in her own life and I adopted it for my own use, for seeing what I am facing with my family as an Odyssey of sorts seemed to bring me a strange sort of comfort. The word Odyssey began to nag me though. Its an unusual word for any member of my family to use other than myself and this one particular family member. Greek/ Roman Myth and Homeric Poetry are not the usual family fare, and the rest of the family sees me as being rather odd for finding pleasure in such "dreary works"! Yet my love of these "dreary works" have served me well in the current situation for I remembered the words of Minerva to Jove " Then Minerva said, "Father, son of Saturn, King of kings, it
served Aegisthus right, and so it would any one else who does as he
did; but Aegisthus is neither here nor there; it is for Ulysses that
my heart bleeds, when I think of his sufferings in that lonely
sea-girt island, far away, poor man, from all his friends. It is an
island covered with forest, in the very middle of the sea, and a
goddess lives there, daughter of the magician Atlas, who looks after
the bottom of the ocean, and carries the great columns that keep
heaven and earth asunder. This daughter of Atlas has got hold of
poor unhappy Ulysses, and keeps trying by every kind of blandishment
to make him forget his home, so that he is tired of life, and thinks
of nothing but how he may once more see the smoke of his own chimneys.
You, sir, take no heed of this, and yet when Ulysses was before Troy
did he not propitiate you with many a burnt sacrifice? Why then should
you keep on being so angry with him?" (From the translation by Samuel Butler)
It struck me rather forcefully how these words so accurately described the dynamics of the family crises in a way that no amount of pondering (or worry, though I know that worry is totally counterproductive, being human sometimes it IS hard not to.) has before led me to understand. (and later I was to find that "Ulysses" does indeed feel as a counterpart to Homer's Ulysses) One person in the current "drama" is both Aegisthus and the daughter of Atlas. And like Minerva, my heart bleeds for Ulysses. Time to get out the essence Bleeding Heart! As I started to laugh at the thought of Homer having written these words to describe my family all those years ago, I found myself chiding him for casting me in the role of both Minerva and Odysseus for surely I shall be wandering back and forth between the "family compound" and my own home here in LA.
"Odysseus was
reluctant to leave his serene home island of Ithaca." Oh how well this describes how I feel! Yet what also brought me comfort was when I remembered that Minerva is also Pallas Athena, Goddess of Wisdom. (Many Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses are the same though they share different names. Some have characteristics not found in the other so it is helpful to run searches using both the Greek and Roman names.) I thought to run an online search for any information I could find on Minerva alone. The first link that came up read "Minerva has a solution". Okay, so I know that by invoking Minerva/Pallas Athena within me, that the Goddess will be guiding me with the words of wisdom that I have been so desperately seeking! And then like a bolt out of the blue, I remembered that the asteroid Pallas Athena, is conjunct my natal Saturn in my horoscope, Saturn representing the Father. Who arranges these things, I must ask, laughing! Yes, I know who does and yet its still a source of wonder to me when these things become evident! Even more so when I recall that years ago, a fellow astrologer remarked to me that Pallas Athena was an important element of my chart and that I would need to pick up her sword and shield and use it wisely. To top it off, one website I found attributes the Mountain Goat as being sacred to Pallas Athena. My own personal "Ulysses" happens to be, you guessed it, a Capricorn. And both the asteroid Pallas Athena and Saturn in my horoscope are in Capricorn.
A few nights ago a very close friend had phoned me so I could talk and hopefully gain some clarity on the family situation. This woman is amazingly psychic and intuitive and when she starts mentioning that she is seeing or hearing something, I have learned it behooves me to listen! She mentioned that she kept seeing an acorn and wondered why it kept popping into her mind. Of course Oak trees from little acorns grow and the flower essence Oak is for those who are exhausted and yet doing their level best to continue to carry on. Oak people are unable to relax or let go unless forced by physical or emotional crises into doing so. I am an Oak type and so of course this led to my understanding that Oak essence was an important one for me at this time. Then while doing some research online I cam across the following:
The building of the ship was inaugurated; it was to be named Argo, the Swift One. On the advice of the Goddess Minerva, a beam made from Zeus' oak tree which grew in Dodona was placed in the bow of the ship; this oracular beam enabled the ship to speak. - The New Patterns in the Sky by Julius D. W. Staal ©1988
The message became clear: Stop, allow the Goddess to proceed and heed her words of wisdom. It is in the relaxing and letting go that the Intuitive process can begin to bring forth solutions from the Higher realms. Struggling with this on my own would only lead to further exhaustion and possibly serious illness for myself. By this time I could really feel that I was in direct contact with the Goddess and it was my choice as to how I wished to proceed. I could listen to her or I could try to take the struggle on all by myself. The Greeks and Romans both would say "Even our greatest heroes relied upon the auspices of the Gods and Goddesses, how could you do any less?" How, indeed!
Synchronicity also pointed the way in which I would need to approach my family. "Speak with authority and wisdom" says Minerva/Pallas Athena, "and they shall hear". Well, I can't say I feel terribly wise but I can speak with some authority having faced similar problems in my own life apart from my family. I finally knew what to say, how to say it and when I did speak out for the first time, progress was made. By listening to my intuition, watching for and following the thread of synchronicity as it appeared in my life, I knew on a deep level that I would be guided in ways that would help me to handle things gracefully. Whatever the outcome, I knew it was not in my hands but was dependant upon the choices that each family member chooses to make as time goes on. At the end of the day, I know that I will feel I have done all I can. And perhaps even more importantly, this has strengthened my faith that we never have to walk through anything alone, no matter how long it may take, the Universe and Guidance are always walking with us!
Yet it is also important to be aware that Synchronicity responds best when we follow the thread as it is thrown out to us. Often there is some sort of "challenge" we need to be willing to accept. We may be as Theseus who finds he must penetrate the Labyrinth in order to confront and destroy the Minotaur and Synchronicity acts as Ariadne by showing us the way through. Sycnhronicity is the "golden thread" that allows us to travel safely into the unknown and back home again. But we have to pick up the thread and follow where it leads! Yet unlike Theseus, we must also remember who and what has helped us, lest we too be tempted to abandon our own Ariadne on the "shore of ths island Naxos" while she is sleeping. For she goes on to marry the God Bacchus or as he was also known Dionysus, the God of Wine and Vegetation or for us, he can be seens as the God on Intuition and fruitfulness borne of that Intuition. Synchronicity is married to Intuition! Theseus of course eventually comes to a bad end. Yet how different things could have been had he kept his own Ariadne with him, his own Intuition/Guidance with him! Theseus is not the only greek "hero" to have abandoned one who has helped him. So too does Jason abandon Medea and pays a terrible price as a result. The message is clear: In order to see a way through, we must both heed and honour that which guides us. When we become arrogant and think that we have done it all ourselves, we effectively cut off the flow of the Universe. The flow of both Sycnhronicity and Intuition stops and we are left to flounder as best we can.
Yet if we have heeded and honoured the energy, we find that anything that life hands us also sparks a tremendous degree of synchronicity to help us see it through. One can cope with and navigate through challenges by doing the following: The first step is to pick up the thread of synchronicity as it begins to appear, to follow it in any way that we can. This may involve research, grabbing a book off the shelf that has been calling to us, talking to someone else and really listening to what they have to say. Make notes as you go along of those words and phrases that really seem to jump out at you. You just never know where they will lead! If a name keeps popping up for example, run a search to see what that name means. The second is to take action based on the information we have collected, that which our own guidance says to us is important to heed. In my own example, I knew intuitively that I needed to ask the part of me that IS wise like Minerva/Pallas Athena and ask the Goddess for her help. The third step is to recognize that we HAVE been helped, to note WHO has helped us (and this includes both those in body as well as the spiritual realms) and then we are able to integrate more of this assistance and support in our own lives. How we do that honouring is totally up to us as individuals. Some people may want to create an altar with pictures or other images that represent those who have helped. Lighting a candle in honour of one's helpers is another idea. I personally like to name those folks and Spiritual energies, Gods/Goddesses who have helped me in a more public way. Give credit where credit is due! To claim it all as one's own doing and understanding is what the Greeks referred to as "Hubris" which in a nutshell, means excessive pride. It leads those who walk that path into some very nasty ends.
Yet when we recognize and honour who has helped us, it becomes very liberating because we realise that no matter what we may face in life, "Minerva has a solution" for us. We have given thanks, we have honoured the wisdom shared with us as best we can, we learn to watch for synchronicity and to rely upon it. One becomes less fearful of the unknown, of what might be. Worry and stress begin to melt away because we really get it that we are not alone, that something larger than ourselves is pointing the way if we will but LISTEN! One also finds that each challenge we may face, serves the purpose of leading us further into the realm of Spirit. It is a deepening of that connection that is the real purpose of the challenge.
I must admit that I do have to wonder if one were to consciously seek that deepening of the connection with the Divine on a daily basis in what ever way is right and appropriate for us as individuals, not allowing the "busyness" of life to interfere with that process, (as I so often do I am ashamed to say) but to make that time as sacred and holy, would we have to face the challenges we do in life? Both my gut response and my own life experience say no, we would not. At least not in the way so many of us currently do. We are capable I feel of learning anything we need to learn in an easy, joyous way. Certainly Synchronicity and Intuition has taken much of the edge off what I have been facing in my own life. I have also come to understand that things I was not able to break free from on my own, my own Expanded and Wiser Self provided the means through this crises to help me to break free from them, albeit, not in a way I ever would have expected! Perhaps the message here for me as well is to LISTEN next time. Let's hope I finally got it.
